with injured eyes, I read
your unreadable mouth, jealous
of the mug’s careless Ruby
Citrus lipstick smear, phone
intimate against your
ear, eavesdropping...not really
just occupying
a common ground, being first person
omniscient, inserting
the words I dare
knowing where
the conversation goes
I want to listen in. Maybe someone needs to hang up.
ReplyDeleteHmmm. Maybe just best to take a walk!
ReplyDeleteThe need for knowing where things go is always so alluring... and, if we are lucky, it's also telling.
ReplyDeleteI eavesdropped one time ~~~ never again, did not turn out well for me.
ReplyDeleteInteresting. We humans seem to be programmed with a-need-to-know, even though - sometimes - situations will 'right-themselves' if we can manage to stifle our curiosity and let events play out at their own speed.
ReplyDeleteTrust is a valuable commodity.
ReplyDeleteI love 'first person / omniscient' and 'phone / intimate against your / ear'.
